Archiving Policy

1. Introduction

Al-Rā'id (The Pioneer) recognizes the importance of long-term access and preservation of scholarly research for the benefit of future generations. This policy outlines the procedures for archiving and ensuring the long-term accessibility of published articles within the journal.

2. Archiving Format

  • All accepted articles will be archived in multiple formats, including Portable Document Format (PDF) and tagged Extensible Markup Language (XML) to ensure long-term accessibility and compatibility with future technologies.
  • Metadata, including author information, keywords, and abstracts, will be embedded within the archived files to facilitate discoverability.

3. Archiving Location

  • Al-Rá'id will deposit a copy of each issue in recognized long-term digital archives. This may include LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keeps Stuff Safe) or CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS System) which provide geographically distributed archiving for redundancy and disaster recovery.
  • Additionally, Al-Rá'id may explore partnerships with libraries and academic institutions for further long-term preservation.

4. Author Self-Archiving

  • Al-Rá'id encourages authors to deposit their published articles in their institutional repositories or on personal websites, following any embargo periods outlined in the author agreement.
  • Authors are recommended to link their deposited versions to the official DOI (Digital Object Identifier) assigned to the published article in Al-Rá'id.

5. Access and Availability

  • Al-Rá'id strives to provide long-term, open access to its published content whenever possible. The specific access model (e.g., fully open access, subscription with delayed open access) will be determined based on the journal's editorial board and publisher's policies.
  • Regardless of the access model, all archived versions of articles will be maintained with complete content and formatting to ensure the integrity of the scholarly record.

6. Review and Updates

  • This archiving policy will be reviewed periodically to reflect advancements in digital preservation technologies and best practices.
  • Any changes to the policy will be clearly communicated to authors, readers, and relevant stakeholders.
